End of Abyss PS5: Price, Trial and Trophies

End of Abyss on PS5 costs $29.99 as one complete purchase with no DLC and no microtransactions, and it launched on the PlayStation Store on October 1, 2026. PlayStation Plus Premium members can play a 1-hour full game trial before buying; there is no separate downloadable demo on PS5. The trophy list holds 44 entries worth 1,350 Trophy XP with a platinum, the DualSense gets vibration and adaptive trigger support, and the game is single-player only.

  • Price: $29.99, one edition, ESRB Teen (Blood, Violence)
  • Free way to try it: 1-hour full game trial, PlayStation Plus Premium required
  • Trophies: 44 total (1 platinum, 3 gold, 12 silver, 28 bronze), 1,350 Trophy XP
  • Controller: DualSense vibration and adaptive trigger effects
  • Players: 1, online play optional

Price: one purchase, nothing extra to buy

The PS5 store page lists End of Abyss at $29.99 with a single version. There is no deluxe edition, no season pass and no cosmetic shop: PCGamingWiki records the monetization as a one-time game purchase, and no DLC or microtransaction entry appears on any storefront. Xbox and the Epic Games Store charge the same $29.99.

Two snapshots worth having before you decide. The PlayStation Store player rating sat at 4.57 out of 5 from 608 ratings when read on October 3, 2026, and Metacritic had the PS5 build at 77 across 13 outlets on the same date - the deepest review sample of the three platforms, against 66 for the Epic PC build from only five outlets.

The one purchase bonus in this game is not on PS5. Buying on Epic gifts you the Cel outfit in Fortnite; the PlayStation purchase comes with the game and nothing attached. Everything Epic-specific is spelled out in the PC on Epic guide.

The trial: 1 hour, and only with PS Plus Premium

The store page wording is exact: "Subscribe to PlayStation Plus Premium to play a 1-hour full game trial." It is the full game running under a one-hour clock, not a cut-down slice - you are playing the real opening of the facility as Cel, and the clock is the only limitation Sony puts on it.

The three platforms do not hand out the same free option:

Platform Free way to play What gates it
PS5 1-hour full game trial PlayStation Plus Premium membership
Xbox Series X|S Free Trial listed on the store page per the Xbox launch post
PC Standalone demo on the Epic Games Store free, Epic account required

The PS5 listing names Premium specifically - lower PlayStation Plus tiers are not mentioned anywhere in the offer, so treat this as a Premium benefit only. Two things nobody has confirmed: whether the trial is offered in every region, and whether your save carries from the trial into the full game. Neither the store listing read on October 3 nor the launch coverage states it, so plan the hour as a demo rather than a head start.

Check your subscription before you plan around the trial

The trial needs PS Plus Premium on the day you want it. If your subscription is Essential or Extra, the trial does not appear as your free route into this game - at that point the choice is $29.99 or nothing, and the Epic demo below is the only no-cost alternative on any platform.

What one hour realistically buys: enough of the Outer Sector to feel the fixed camera, the twin-stick shooting and the Scanner, which is the part of the game every review praises. If the opening hooks you, the first-hour plan turns that trial time into a clean start instead of a throwaway file.

Trophies: 44 entries and one platinum

Grade Count
Platinum 1
Gold 3
Silver 12
Bronze 28
Total 44
Total points 1,350 Trophy XP

The platinum, End of Abyss, is the usual "Obtain all other trophies" condition. The same 43 objectives exist on Epic without a platinum to hand out, which is why the PS list reads 44 and the Epic list reads 43. Rarities were brutal in launch week: on October 3, 2026, twenty of the 44 trophies were still pinned at 0.1% on PSNProfiles, including the Logbook sweep and the map sweep.

Exactly one trophy can be lost permanently, and only through your own action:

Do not redeem Logbook codes before you find the Cryptograph

Second Sight requires upgrading the Scanner, and redeeming a code is irreversible - activate codes before you own the Cryptograph and that trophy is gone for good on that save. Every other trophy, including both endings and the hidden Brood Keeper fight, can be cleaned up after the credits. The full order of operations lives in the trophies and achievements guide.

DualSense, accessibility and languages

The PS5 version uses the DualSense properly: vibration and adaptive trigger effects are both supported, which you can read off the store's own accessibility list - it ships "Playable without Controller Vibration" and "Playable without Adaptive Trigger Effect" toggles, and those options only exist because the features are in the game. Aiming runs on the right stick with movement on the left, the standard twin-stick layout, with no aim assistance reported in reviews.

Seven accessibility options are listed on the store page:

  • Subtitles (Basic)
  • Adjustable Stick Sensitivity (Basic)
  • Playable without Motion Controls
  • Playable without Touch Controls
  • Playable without Controller Vibration
  • Playable without Adaptive Trigger Effect
  • Game Pausing

Screen languages number 15, including Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, alongside English, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese (Brazil), Italian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian and Spanish (Mexico). One caveat: the store page lists screen languages only and no audio language at all, so do not go in expecting an English voice track to be confirmed - that question stays open.

How it runs, and what nobody has published

Straight answer: no verified resolution, frame rate or graphics mode figure exists for the PS5 build. There is no confirmed performance mode, no confirmed 4K or 60fps target, and no technical analysis on record. Any page quoting a frame rate for this game is guessing.

What is on record is thinner but honest. Push Square's review states the game "Runs great on both versions of PS5", and that review was played on a prerelease build - launch-week patches have changed the game since. Those patches were fast and they were real:

  • October 2 (update 1.012, all platforms): possible freeze fixed when Cel is revived with the Defibrillator mod while still taking damage, energy node doors that stayed shut after dying between node kills (with an unblock for anyone already stuck), and map fixes for a missing room and doors showing as reset.
  • October 4 (update 1.013 on PS5): progression blocker fixed when you die while extending a bridge, plus room-transition performance fixes for hitches that caused audio static.
Judge launch reviews against the current build

Four separate outlets flagged map lies, invisible walls and crashes on prerelease code, and GameSpot reported that the day-one patch fixed most of its complaints. The map and door fixes above are confirmed; treat any review complaint from before October 2 as possibly outdated, and check the troubleshooting guide before you blame your console.

Patch details above were read from mp1st's update coverage on October 10, 2026; no official patch notes page has been published by the developer.

Is the PS5 version the one to get?

For most players, yes - and the reasons are concrete rather than fan loyalty:

  • The strongest review sample. Metacritic 77 across 13 outlets beats the PC build's 66 from five. The split verdict itself is broken down in the review roundup.
  • Trophies with a platinum. Epic has achievements, Xbox confirmation is thinner, and only PlayStation offers the 44-entry list with a platinum at the end.
  • DualSense support that the other platforms cannot match.
  • The trial exists, gated behind PS Plus Premium.

What PS5 does not get: the Fortnite Cel outfit, which is tied to the Epic purchase, and a subscription-free demo - Epic hands one out to anyone with an account. Size the commitment with the playtime guide before spending $29.99, and skim what End of Abyss is if the twin-stick horror pitch is new to you.

FAQ

How much does End of Abyss cost on PS5? $29.99 as a single purchase with no DLC or microtransactions. Same price on Xbox and Epic. ESRB Teen (Blood, Violence).

Can I play End of Abyss on PS5 for free? Yes, for one hour, and only with PlayStation Plus Premium - the store says "Subscribe to PlayStation Plus Premium to play a 1-hour full game trial." There is no separate demo download on the PlayStation Store; the standalone demo is Epic-only, and Xbox lists its own Free Trial.

Is the trial the full game or a limited slice? Full game. Sony's wording is "1-hour full game trial," so you play the real opening under a one-hour limit. Whether trial progress carries into the paid game is not documented.

Is End of Abyss on PS Plus Extra or the monthly games? No catalog placement is confirmed. The only subscription benefit on record is the Premium trial - treat anything claiming the full game is "free with PS Plus" as wrong until Sony says otherwise.

Are any End of Abyss trophies missable? One. Second Sight (upgrade the Scanner) is lost forever if you redeem Logbook codes before finding the Cryptograph. Everything else is catchable after the credits - see the trophy guide.

Does the PS5 version have a performance mode or a confirmed frame rate? No such figure has been published by the developer or any technical analysis. Push Square's pre-release review only says it "Runs great on both versions of PS5."

How long is End of Abyss? Media playtimes cluster around 10 to 15 hours for the story - IGN described roughly a 10-hour campaign and GameSpot logged 13 - with a platinum run at 15 to 20 hours. Nobody has published an official figure; the playtime page has the full breakdown.

Is there multiplayer on PS5? No. The store lists 1 player with online play optional, and no mode in the game involves a second human.
